About Quarter Midget Racing

Quarter Midget racing has been around since the 1930s as a form of automobile racing designed and intended for kids.  These are NOT go-karts. Quarter Midget cars are approximately one quarter (1/4) the size of a full-size midget car. They feature full four wheel independent suspension and full roll cages.  The racing surface is a pavement or dirt oval approximately one-tenth (1/10) of a mile. OCQMC is a pavement track.

Quarter Midget cars, rules and safety procedures instill safety from day one of Rookie Training.  Since its inception, the sport of Quarter Midget racing has enjoyed the finest safety record of all organized children's sports.  This safety record did not just happen.  Safety starts with car inspections and the drivers must wear proper racing equipment like helmets, racing suits, gloves, arm restraints and neck collars. Corner workers are present during each race to assist in case of an accident.  Most important, safe driving habits become second nature to drivers.

The benefits for kids are virtually immeasurable:

  • Drivers develop physical skills such as coordination, timing, alertness, basic mechanical theory.

  • It's just plain fun!
